FAQ

Frequently asked questions on male waxing.

Q1. What is Manzillian waxing?
The male Brazilian wax (also known as the back, sac and crack) involves the removal of hair from the groin, penis, scrotum, buttocks and anal area. You may, of course, request that your therapist removes as much or as little hair as you like, and the price will be adjusted accordingly.
Q2. Can someone please explain the process of a Manzillian Wax to me?
A disposable G-string will be provided. Disposable gloves, disposable spatulas and disposable waxing strips and disposable wax will be used.
Q3. Does it hurt?
A little! But not as much as you'd expect. Waxing may be a little sensitive the first time you wax, as this is when your hair will be at its thickest. Waxing is quick so your Waxing Therapist will have your treatment done in the least amount of time as possible and not drag out the process.
Q4. Are guys really being waxed?
Yes they are! The girls have known about the advantages of waxing for years, and guys are now starting to take advantage of the benefits of it, of all ages!
Q5. Is waxing suitable for everyone?
Waxing is a very safe treatment however it cannot be done where there is sun burn, varicose veins, skin diseases, cuts and abrasions, chaffed or broken skin, warts or hairy moles. If you suffer from oversensitive skin, peripheral artery disease, peripheral neuropathy or diabetes you should consult your G.P or a health professional before being waxed.
Skin that has been treated with steroid creams, Retin-A, Differin or other retinoid acne products within the last 3 months cannot be waxed. Those who are or have been taking Roaccutane must wait at least 6 months after finishing the course before a waxing treatment.
Q6. What is the best hair length for waxing?
The optimum hair length for waxing is 1/4 inch (6mm); if your hair is longer than this then when you come for the treatment I will use some clippers to cut it down to length. Please do not shave before a treatment!
Q7. What should I wear to my treatment?
A loose cotton t-shirt should be worn to avoid any aggravation to the skin after your treatment, if for legs some loose trousers. If you're having your Speedo line done I'd suggest bringing some clean underwear, preferably boxers or something not too tight.
Q8. How can I avoid in-growing hairs?
Exfoliate the skin thoroughly to remove dead skin cells. Moisturise the skin every day.
Q9. What's trimming / clipping?
Some guys like a bit of hair, but want it to look a little tidier. We can trim the hair down to whatever length you're comfortable with. This is pain-free and some guys prefer to full hair removal and can be done as frequently as you wish.
Q10. I'm worried about being naked or becoming aroused.
Don't panic! Your therapist is not concerned with the size or shape of your body any more than they are concerned with what car you drive or the colour of your eyes! We aim to make all of our customers feel as comfortable as possible, and understand that you may be feeling nervous. Some clients experience temporary physical arousal in response to the manipulation of their genitals - this is nothing to worry about and usually subsides fairly rapidly. Customers are advised, however, that inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
Q11. How should I prepare for my treatment?
Please arrive freshly showered and, if possible, gently exfoliate the area for a few days beforehand. This helps to remove any dead skin cells and lifts the hair for better results. Do not shave or trim the area for at least 3 weeks prior to your appointment, as the hair needs to be at least ½ cm long in order to wax successfully. If need be we will do any necessary trimming for you on the day.
Q12. How long will the treatment take?
You should allow 60 minutes for your first treatment, which includes your consultation and homecare advice. Subsequent appointments usually take between 30 and 45 minutes. Your waxing therapist will be very efficient making sure all the hair is removed completely.
Q13. How should I care for my skin afterwards?
For 2 days after your appointment, you must avoid heat and friction. This means no hot baths or showers (washing with cool or lukewarm water is fine), no sunbathing, no saunas, hot tubs or steam rooms, no exercise, no sexual activity (sorry chaps!), and no tight clothing that rubs excessively against the skin. You should also avoid swimming and the use of fragranced body lotions or sprays.
Q14. How long will the results last?
This varies from person to person. Unlike shaving or hair removal creams, waxing removes hair by the root - this avoids the discomfort of itchy stubble and your hair will grow back slower, softer and sparser. To maintain your smooth appearance, I recommend waxing regularly every 4 to 5 weeks.
Q15. What is involved in the waxing process?
Your waxing therapist will ask you a few questions, to make sure you have no allergies to the wax. She will ask about any medications you are taking. A disposable G-string will be provided. A clean and tidy waxing room with disposable spatulas, gloves, etc. will be used.
Q16. Is Manzillian Waxing common?
YES! We do a lot of Manzillians and it is more common than you would think. I am sure this is not a topic of conversation for most guys. Your mates could have a Manzillian wax and you wouldn't even know!
Q17. What is the difference between a back, sack and crack wax and a Manzillian?
Basically these are the same thing. A Manzillian wax or a back sack and crack wax are the same. All the hair in the pubic region is removed. This also includes the inner bottom area as well.
Q18. What does the full body wax include?
A full body wax is EVERYTHING. This is from the eyebrows down to even the little hairs on your toes. All hairs from your entire body are removed except for the hair on your scalp.
Q19. What medications can affect waxing?
Waxing is not recommended if you are taking anti-acne prescription medication, as this will make your skin very sensitive.
Q20. How long after shaving can I get a wax?
You will have to wait a week or two until there is at least 3mm's of hair. The hair can be short, but it is best to leave the hair as long as possible. The usual time for after shaving is 2 weeks.
Q21. What are the benefits of waxing?
Your hair will grow back smoother and finer. Your wax will last from 4-6 weeks depending on hair type, hair growth and hair thickness. Waxing pulls the hair out by the dermal papilla or hair follicle. When you pull out the hair papilla (root) from the hair shaft it is gone completely. For your hair to grow back it needs to reproduce a new dermal papilla which takes time. The usual time for a new hair cycle to be waxed is 4-6 weeks. The longer you have been waxing, the less the hair growth and the slower your hair cycle. Most people would get waxing around the 6 week point.
Q22. When you get a Manzillian or Brazilian Wax done will they wax everything?
YES! All the hair in the pubic area will be removed. This includes the inner bottom area as well.
Q23. What exactly gets covered in a Brazilian Wax or Manzillian Wax?
A Manzillian wax or a Brazilian wax involves complete hair removal of the pubic area. This includes the inner bottom. It takes about 10 minutes for a Brazilian wax and 15 minutes for a Manzillian wax.
Q24. When is the best time to have a Brazilian wax or Manzilan wax?
Anytime that suits you is a good time. Just make sure the hair is long enough. 3mm's or longer is good.
Q25. Will hair grow in darker or thicker than it was?
NO! Waxing pulls out the dermal papilla so the new hair that grows back will be finer and lighter. The more you wax the less the hair growth.
Q26. Is male waxing for overweight people?
YES! It doesn't matter your shape, size or gender. Waxing is for everyone.
